HB9CZF - SO 40m HP CW

The day before CQWW it started to snow and it was not for granted that I can drive my car to my Contest-QTH. Surprisingly Stephan, HB9DDO, invited my to his DX-QTH. We headed off Friday evening after dinner, toured his QTH (I've never been there before) and he worked whatever was missing for his DXCC. At 3z I left my sleeping bag and played on the low bands. On 40m I gave it a run in order to see how the new 2el Yagi performed. After 7z we called it a day and headed home for brunch.

My second part of the contest started Sunday at 12z and it was easier to reach my Contest-QTH than I thought. 15m and 20m performed as expected but 40m was in a much better shape. Signals within 1000km were weak and watery but DX boomed in: VK, KH2, JA, Asia, K, VE, ... all at the same time. The big gungs from K were already workable at their high noon. I never experienced that before.

Rig: TS-870 & KW, Ten-Tec Omni VI+ & 500W
Ant: 2el (40m), GP (80m), Dipole (160m), 3el SteppIR and 41m LW.
Win-Test 2.20
