IOTA Contest, 28 July 2007

HB9CZF - SOAB LP 12h-CW non-assisted

Rig: K2/100, 3el SteppIR for 10-20m and 41m LW for 40-80m. Win-Test 3.9.0 (didn't bother upgrading before the contest).

Saturday morning I attended the NMD-Meeting held in Olten where I gave a small presentation on the 3h SoftwareDefinedRadio (SDR) recording I did. NationalMountainDay (NMD) is held on the 3rd Sunday in July on 80m in CW. Requirements are less than 6kg for the whole station (TRX, key, battery, antenna, mast, ... (operator not included)) and at least 800m asl. The meeting concludes with lunch which I missed this year and I drove to my contest QTH instead.

Some Sporadic-E on 10 and 15m brought several European QSO into the IOTA-contest-log. 15m was also open towards K. 20m and 40m were workhorses again and 80m was noisy before midnight (local time). 4-band-QSO were achieved with EJ0GI, M8C and ZC4LI (there was no 5-band-QSO).

Since I had some visitors arriving at the airport on Sunday morning I played around in the contest for the first 12 hours.

Overall I managed to work 14 new Island-entities (all time new & those who are still not confirmed by QSL) and I'm anxiously waiting for the IOTA-website to go online where I can claim my IOTA Contest QSO.

And finally around dawn I had a hare hopping around in front of the shack. Other locals include cows (fenced in) and foxes.
