The track was recorded with a Holux M-241, exported as gw_sw041.kmz and imported to Google Earth.

Fog is still covering the higher altitudes. This picture shows the ascend to Hay Bluff as seen from the car park. Horses all around.

Nature pays its toll ... ... and my shoes as well. Approximately after 10 minutes walking the whole sole fell off! I purchases these hiking boots in 1988, used them in the Army as well as for leisure and after several 100km and 21 years they simply fell apart. I had an extra pair in my car (although a very lightweight version).

At Hay Bluff (677m) where the trig point is located. I walked to the highest point with 703m. View is in direction East.

This is my shack. Be aware that most of the time the walking path marks the border between G und GW. I decided to use MW/HB9CZF/p for a GW-SOTA otherwise it might be confusing. A view back to Hay Bluff.

nice flowers ... And the final descend from Hay Bluff to the car park.
dsc_1171.jpg (30180 bytes) For the next activation of GW/SW-041 I would park my car at Gospel Pass (538m) and walk to Hay Bluff (677m). The activation zone for Black Mountain would be 703m - 25m = 678m and I assume it would qualify for a successful activation to have the antenna at least 1 metre above ground.

The car park at Gospel Pass also features a sign explaining the Black Mountain region (unfortunately I didn't stop).

And the other way round: Car park to Hay Bluff.
