The track was recorded with a Holux M-241, exported as hb_zh-010.kml and imported to Google Earth.

This SOTA activation coincides with the National Mountain Day (NMD) contest which is held on the third Sunday in July. This year I combined the contest with climbing HB/ZH-010 which is the closest SOTA mountain to my QTH (shown by the yellow pin on the left hand side in the above picture).

DSC_3522_web.jpg (35224 bytes) Although I live in Otelfingen for almost five years I never made it on top of Lägern. There is even a steep walking path behind our house directly up to the top but I took the popular car park between Boppelsen and Regensberg. The picture on the left shows the view from Lägern Hochwacht towards Otelfingen. One can even see our house :-)

The activation zone of HB/ZH-010 is very long and includes the whole ridge. Lägern Burghorn is near a restaurant and it gets busy with the day. Therefore, walked along the ridge for another 30-45 min to Burghorn. This is the only place without any trees! The 2x 6.7m Doublet for 30m and 40m was easy to errect at Burghorn. For the 80m version with 2x 22m I had to extend the wires through the bushes :-) If you read the map very carfully you recognize that the antenna is already in canton Aargau (AG) and one step over the balustrade would put you back in canton Zurich (ZH) were the SOTA reference belongs to.
DSC_3564_web.jpg (25846 bytes) The picture on the left shows the setup for NMD. It is an 80m, CW only contest and the QTH has to be at least 800m high. Maximum weight of the rig (TRX, Battery, Antenna, Feeder, Pole, Keyer, Headset, ...) is 6kg.
